Baked Custard or Bread Pudding

published by Susan Blossom Apr 14, 2009

This is the easiest recipe ever! I use Julia Child’s basic baked custard recipe but do it with a twist to make a fantastic bread pudding we experienced at the Four Seasons in San Francisco years ago.

Modified Alfredo: White Sauce with Nutmeg

published by annslc Jan 08, 2009

Most people think of baked goods when they think of nutmeg, but it's really great in savory dishes as well. Fondue would be nothing without the nutmeg. This sauce is great with butternut squash ravioli from Costco, butternut squash gnocchi, or just regular pasta when tossed with roasted chunks of squash sauteed in butter and maple syrup.

Yogurt Curried Cauliflower

This one is also great with spicy Indian dishes, but has enough protein to be a vegetarian main dish as well. The yogurt keeps it cool and mild and is probably why my little boy likes it.

No one would ever describe cauliflower as "lame" after tasting it in this spicy dish! Serve it as part of an Indian meal, or with grilled fish, chicken, pork or lamb.

Mama Stamberg’s Cranberry Relish

published by Susan Blossom Nov 26, 2008

"It sounds terrible but tastes terrific," Stamberg says of the bright pink dish. Every year since 1971, NPR's Susan Stamberg has managed to sneak on the air her mother-in-law's recipe for cranberry relish. She's sprinkled it into dialogue from movies, tricked celebrities into reading it and even had it put to music.
